This jam is soooo badazz….the guitar is played godlike and the the bass guitar is sooo smooth and funky…i love it…one of my all time favorites…saw him at Las Vegas in November 09 and it was awe inspiring!!
He doesn’t ever play this song in concert, I’ve seen him about 7 or 8 times. My first concert ever was Santana in ’75 in Chicago. Wow, I still remember smoking a huge joint w/ my best friend right before the show. I was so stoned and Carlos came on and OMG!!!! What a performance he put on, we were screaming after every song!!! From then on he was my # 1 influence in music and guitar playing. Carlos is da man!!! Always and forever!!!! Samba pa Ti baby!!!!!
This song is the best of Carlos, selfish I dont know, has far as, if he played it in concert I dont know. I liked back then and I still like it today, I’ve played the cd, at least a dozen times in a row one day. What a natural high, no drugs.
@gab99 I apologize. According to some other comments I’ve read, it seems that the solo is split. Always thought it was just Carlos. Oh, well. Its great anyway.
This song takes me back to my very young early teens, man weed, red devils, blotter acid and window pain…being just 16 I had a older neighbor who had me selling those things he use to play this album all the time and I’m black, and a R&B fan but I love this style…..keeping it real…..Santana luv…
@rrrickster3137 Santana luv indeed. I’m a white guy and my first live concert I ever saw was the Supremes! I was 13 back in 1966. Loved em. Also, Isley Brothers, Chambers Bros. Then freshman yr of college discovered herb at my first Santana concert. Live was never the same. Peace on ya my friend!
Those times haven’t gone. Live music still gives you more of a buzz than drugs and drink and there’s no hangover. Plenty of groups out there playing great music. We shouldn’t accept the trash that commercialism throws at us.
Lost my virginity with this track back in 1974. … and no I didn’t last the whole track!
@rrrickster3137 DUDE,…i KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN,…I’M SAME AGE / GENERATION,…AND LOVED THIS SONG AT 16 YEARS OLD,..I REALIZED LAST NIGHT AS I LISTENED TO IT,…THAT CARLOS WAS INSPIRED BY GOD “THEN”,…AND THAT EVEN 30 YEARS LATER,..HE STILL COULDN’T PLAY ANY BETTER THAN HE DID ON THIS,….SONG,…OF THE WIND,….AMEN

Gibson L6-S custom. I used to own one.
I love it how Carlos quotes “never can say goodbye” in some of his lines.

dude when?!?!?!?!?!?!?! we’re going march 27
Classic! Absolute classic. One of my all-time fav tracks. Play this at my funeral and I’ll be happy.
Espec love the pieces around 4.30 and 5.45 – so cool. Supreme guitarist!
isnt the soloing split between him and Schon on this track?
@gab99 Pretty sure this is all Carlos. One of his best. And he has so many.
@WChicagoBlues He’s played this in concert at least once. A very slow version. Not as good as the original, IMO.
And you’re right. Carlos is da man. Named my first dog after him. (He was a wolf -hybrid.) One of the best guitarists that ever lived.

no problem – great piece of guitar playing by all : )
