Argentine tenor saxophonist Gato Barbieri, has been entertaining for fans of jazz more than half a century. Gato Barbieri is Spanish for "Barbieri the Cat ", his real name is Leandro Barbieri. Gato career lasted from free jazz, Latin jazz, jazz and pop, in 2002, Gato released his first studio album 50th. He first took the music with the clarinet at age 12 after hearing Charlie Parker's Now's the Time.

Gato Barbieri started his musical life professional playing alto saxophone with pianist Lalo Schifrin in Argentina during the 1950s. While in Lalo's band, Gato was the chance to play some performances with jazz greats like Coleman Hawkins and Dizzy Gillespie. In 1962, Gato is a party in Italy, home of his first wife, and took the tenor saxophone.

In Italy, the influence of design by John Coltrane, Albert Ayler and Pharaoh Sanders, Barbieri began collaborating with trumpeter Don Cherry. As a sideman for Don Cherry, Gato Barbieri played on two albums of free jazz, Complete Communion and Symphony for Improvisers.

In 1969 with the release of the Third World, Barbieri began his career as a conductor. His music has begun to show an influence of South America and earned her enough recognition that landed the job of composing the soundtrack of Bernardo Bertolucci, Last Tango in Paris. His success on that film music has won him a Grammy Award and a recording contract with Impulse. He also started a profitable side career for Barbieri, he scored more than a dozen films in three different continents.

In the late 1970s, Barbieri has turned its attention this time to jazz pop that became common at the time. During this phase his career was recording for A & M Records. One of the most successful albums of that era, and one of the most successful his career was Caliente. The album contains a cover version Barbieri of Carlos Santana's Europa. Another great album during his years with A & M Records was Shadow of the Cat. A & M label owner, and the great jazz trumpeter, Herb Alpert playing trumpet for three songs on this album.

Barbieri wife died in 1980 and six weeks after his passing, he underwent triple bypass surgery. Because of the toll these events have had on him, Barbieri disappeared from public view for some time. He returned from a forceful way in 1997, his Columbia Records release Que Pasa was the fourth best selling contemporary jazz albums this year.

In 2004, Universal Music Gato Barbieri honored by publishing a collection of his work in their 20th series Century Masters. Other musicians to receive this honor in 2004 were Sarah Vaughan, Charlie Parker, and Carmen McRae. Gato was also honored by his country of origin the same year that the Argentine ambassador to the United States to receive a prize awarded for the overall achievements of the Consulate of Argentina New York City.

Why jazz piano improvisation?

Why not gospel piano improvisation?

Is it not possible to improvise classical music or sacred music, or other type of music?

Bach improvised many of his fugues and inventions while playing organ at church. Many others in all musical styles have improvised within the context of their own convictions. So why study jazz improvisation? Why not explore improvised music or classical music improvised gospel?

The answer is access.

Jazz Improvisation the piano is more accessible than what is improvisation in other areas. Some classical pianists improvise, but the performance, they are generally known to play Chopin or Debussy or Mozart, rather than make their own music. There are gospel pianists who do improvise, but the expectation their listeners is not primarily to hear music created on the spot.

But expectations of an audience of jazz lovers is specifically created to hear improvised music, without receiving the written notice. And if jazz, more than any other musical style that day become a music improvisation. Not because there is something inherent in the music of jazz tunes from the play that invites improvisation, but because of the expectation of improvisation that built over the years.

This fact allows an interested observer to study improvisation jazz as it could consider any other type of improvising. It has easy access to concerts, recordings, transcriptions of jazz recordings, and even local jam sessions. When can he attend a concert of classical music and be sure to hear improvised music? When can we go to the church with the assurance that the pianist improvising? But with jazz, his sources are many and are readily available.

Then the principles derived jazz improvisation be applied to other musical styles?

Of course.

Each pianist uses the same 88 notes of the keyboard. All music is composed of a kind of melody, a kind of harmony, a kind of rhythm. Elements of style may be transplanted to another style, in fact, this happens all the time. Notice how the recent contemporary pop music is flavored with elements of jazz, country western, and even classical music. Cross-pollination of styles abounds in contemporary music.

So improvisation can be studied by students classical music, pianist of the church, the worship team keyboardist, pianist new-age, country piano player from the West, and all other styles of music. The benefits and rewards of learning to improvise on the piano are enormous.

So next time you see or hear a set of jazz pianist attention to what he or she does. Ask yourself what is happening musically, what chords and chord progressions are used, what rhythms are in play, and how the melody of a song is being modified by the pianist improvises the melody.

Then go home and apply what you learned to your style of music. You'll be surprised how much you can learn by simply observing and then applying what you saw and heard at your own game

A similar site called Friendster social networking was launched in 2002, and employees of a company called eUniverse who were members of Freindster decided they could not themselves do much better.

Initially, Myspace was populated only by employees of eUniverse. This was done intentionally to keep the site as being "empty" when other users are coming. Competition then eUniverse held to see which employee could sign up the most new members, and MySpace was soon the social networking site above all. In fact, Friendster people left en masse to join and use MySpace instead of interacting with your friends and colleagues. MySpace has more user customization Friendster made, and children and adults both enjoyed the challenge of making their MySpace layouts look just the way they wanted them to appear.

A "major laws" of learning jazz is: You need to be simultaneously create your own music while studying tradition. Digging up the past is one of the most important things you can do as a player. It is the fuel your creativity. People are very Creative have just fed their minds with fuel for their creative fires. Now we'll talk about some practical ways you can dig into the tradition and feed your fire.

1. The list of historical reading. Start by choosing a subject to concentrate. For example, the printing time, articulation, phrasing, vocabulary, etc. Next create a list of a great player or a band of each period of 10 years of jazz in the twenties to today. To For example, you may choose an early registration of Louis Armstrong for 20 years, one of Count Basie for 30 years, Charlie Parker for 40 years, Charles Mingus for 50 and so on. You would then listen to the playlist daily for a month as part of your practice session daily. Everything listening ask concentrate on your subject. Notice how your subject has changed over the years from player to player. How did it stay the same? You'll start to notice a common thread through the tradition and you will also fulfill your creative source of ideas, concepts and information.

2. Check out the "in-between" guys. Miles and Trane are great. These are two of the greatest musicians to ever live. But they are not the only two musicians. There are literally thousands of big cats that popular history has seemed to forget for one reason or another. There is much to learn and benefit from the study of these lesser known only masters of jazz. And you'll be taking good ideas on a less crowded Creative Pool. Each of the controls on Miles and Trane. But not all out-or Booker Irvin Lennie Tristano. Start with sidemen of the largest you already know. Google them and find their discographies. Who else did they play with? Then ask who else has played with these musicians, etc. It is an endless quest. Do not miss Never music retrieve.

3. Choose a teacher to focus on. Another idea is to choose one player to concentrate. For example, you could have a "player of the month." Say you decide to focus on Lennie Tristano. For a month, you will spend a period of your practice session each day listen and consider Lennie Tristano. Buy a few of his recordings. Read a biography. Search YouTube video clips of him from the scene. Transcribe a solo. Emulate his articulation, phrasing, rhythmic feel, tone, dynamics, etc. Then, after a period with Lennie, go to someone else. Maybe go to a contemporary of Lennie. Or jump around in the tradition of, say, 1970, McCoy Tyner.

4. Exercise your creative muscle. I'll be a little metaphysical on you here. Many musicians and artists are kind of romantic. They are attracted by a face "mystery" of art. Well, I do no break for you, but there is no mystery or magic to creativity. Creativity occurs because you "create". Life is creativity. The universe is creativity. That is why we are all creative. To create are required to take action. Make a habit of creating something new every day. Write something, anything. This could be a melody, a bar, it could be pace, it could be a groove. Just create something. You can not expect an idea to strike from scratch. You must take action. Just do it. Overtime this creative process becomes easy and natural.

One of the most influential players of jazz that the world has known, Oscar Emmanuel Peterson was born August 15, 1925 in Little Burgundy, Montreal. His living environment has been imbibed with jazz music since lived in a city where most people were African-Americans. When just five years, He learned piano and trumpet. After being affected with tuberculosis a couple of years later, he abandoned the trumpet and turned all its efforts towards the piano.

His main teacher these years was his father, an autodidact who was a porter working with Canadian Pacific Railways. He taught Oscar and his four brothers, all he has won while playing the piano when he was in the Merchant Navy. His sister brought to attention and taught him classical music.

Since he began playing the piano, Oscar made sure he got her a good foundation he would faithfully practice his scales and classical etudes daily – a habit which gave him a good foundation on the basics, which in its last years has contributed to much of its control over the piano. One of his piano teachers in its early years was Paul de Marky, who also like his sister gave lessons classical piano playing Oscar.

He began to catch up on recordings of traditional jazz that led him to learn a lot of ragtime and boogie-woogie tunes of his time. This ability has earned her the tag "The Brown Bomber of Boogie-Woogie". When he was nine, his game had reached maturity as any other professional. He spent anywhere between four and six hours a day to perfect the piano – a habit he has when he was guarded in his long career.

When he was 14, he took part in a national competition organized by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation where he won. This marked the beginning of his career. Standing his first concert to play a show once a week on the radio. He Also played in hotels and music halls.

The inspiration for his style of play from most jazz musicians including pianist while at idolized – Nat King Cole, Teddy Wilson, James P. Johnson and Art Tatum. The tide turned later in his career when Art Tatum was compared him in his last years success. In his first hearing of a piece Art Tatum was when his father played Tiger Rag for him. After having listened, he almost lost faith in his ability to play the piano as well as it could. He later admitted he had been intimidated by the technique of Art Tatum and he decides to be humble about his own ability to play. Oscar Peterson eventually became friends with Tatum but he finally let go of the admiration he has been in the Man. He rarely ever played the piano when Tatum was there.

Not only was he fascinated by the music Tatum, he also looked to pianists that Tatum watched as he began to play. His Work has been a lot of inspiration and note for note picked up by some sections of the music Sergei Rachmaninov. His work with his trio, Oscar Patterson Trio – with Herb Ellis on guitar and Ellis Brown on bass were many such references.

His influence extends to classical music which he attributed to his sister Daisy Sweeney. Discipline because it was one of the key skills he picked up when he began learning the piano from him.

Peterson has found a good friend and collaborator Norman Granz. Granz discovered him when he listens to Peterson to play in a club via a radio line. He was traveling in a taxi at the time. To hear him play, he asked the driver to take him immediately club where Oscar Peterson played.

Granz got him a concert at Carnegie Hall as part of his Jazz at the Philharmonic. Therefore, Granz served as his manager. Granz was behind Peterson in the fight against segregation. He stood between the trio and police trying to prevent them from traveling in "white taxis" only.

Peterson has been struggling with health problems throughout his life. He had arthritis since he could not button his own shirt. It was too heavy for its size that has affected his mobility. But physical problems or not, history will surely record as Oscar Peterson being one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time.
