In any English town or city on a Friday or Saturday night you'll still be able to walk into a pub and be entertained. And, generally free, as one of thousands of these musical phenomena called the covers band performs live for an audience complacent.
Covers bands are not something new, although their origins are difficult to trace, they have been around for decades. In that time they have become favorites at receptions Wedding in pubs and clubs everywhere and even acts as a support for soundtracks.
One reason for this is the great variety offered these bands. Cover band tends to specialize in a genre like heavy metal or country and western, for example, or they could focus over a period such as 70 years. But almost without exception, their mailing lists include the best songs and most popular of their chosen field.
And this is where they differ from their close relationship, the tribute band. While there are tributes to bands today, many formed to pay tribute to a soundtrack that are divided may or may no longer tour, focusing solely on the tapes of these songs, replicating style, the look, sound close, even winning the approval of the members of the soundtrack.
Indeed, tribute bands are much become successful in their own right, most are content to play a relatively small audience in clubs and concert halls, but some of the most polished can be seen at larger events and multi-day "tribute" festivals that have sprung up to meet music lovers budget conscious imitating Glastonbury type festivals with multiple stages simultaneously hosting a variety of genres.
There is a growing demand for cover and groups tribute to the officers the same way and market them in the same way they treat the soundtracks.
Tribute bands have been around longer than their cousins coverage, but the debate will continue as if the Beatles or Elvis Presley were the first artists to be honored by equivalent tribute.
